Brion started his career with AT&T Bell Laboratories in 1980. Over a 20 year career with AT&T (and later Lucent Technologies), Brion worked in a variety of technical and managerial positions.  Most of Brion’s work involved large software systems used to manage the AT&T telephony and data networks (Operations Support Systems). Brion developed many of the network overload mechanisms used by AT&T and was an initial member of a team focused on evolving AT&T’s software business from focusing on managing voice networks to systems for managing converged (voice, data, video) environments.

Brion obtained 3 patents while working for AT&T/Lucent.
